Appetite Loss in the Elderly

Appetite Loss in the Elderly

Examine the mouth of an elderly patient who complains of loss of appetite and rapid weight loss. A recently inserted removable partial or full denture, especially one that cover all or part of the soft palate, may be responsible. Once patients get used to the new prostheses, they usually regain their appetite.
