Persons with obesity are at greater risk for poor health during the COVID-19 quarantine. But, obesity expert Donna Ryan, MD, advises against wieght loss during this time.

Leading obesity researcher Donna Ryan, MD, explains that embarking on a stringent weight loss plan during the COVID-19 quarantine would risk lowering any individual’s immune response. Dr Ryan also states that while persons with obesity are not at greater risk for contracting COVID-19, they are at increased risk for much more severe complications if they do become infected.
