RAD 2025: Chovatiya toplines shifts in dosing strategies for topical, oral, and injectable AD therapy observed in both clinical trials and clinical practice.

"So there [are] many ways in which patients may potentially be using their therapies, both on label and slightly off label as well."

Flexible dosing in treatment for atopic dermatitis (AD) aims to match use of medications, whether topical, oral, or injectable, with an individual's lifestyle and the person's particular cycle of symptoms, Raj Chovatiya, MD, PhD, MSCI, told his audience at the 2025 Revolutionizing Atopic Dermatitis (RAD) Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. He presented during the session titled, “Dose Flexibility in Adult Atopic Dermatitis” with colleagues Tejesh Patel, MD, and G. Scott Drew, DO.1

In an interview with Patient Care© at RAD, Chovatiya, clinical associate professor at the Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School, founder and director of the Center for Medical Dermatology + Immunology Research in Chicago, reviewed dosing flexibility in adults with AD atopic dermatitis (AD) management, highlighting potential regimen changes for injectable biologic therapies, and oral and topical therapies. Flexibility in use is based on both anecdotal real-world patterns and a growing body of clinical trial data, explained Chovatiya.

When Patient Care asked how he hoped this presentation would be different given at RAD 2026, he replied:

I really hope that we'll get more publishing of real world data and real world cases to show exactly how people are using these therapies as not only as monotherapy and in different regimens, but in combination therapy as well." He hopes to be able to offer clinical data on how clinicians are "mixing, matching and combining many of these therapies in the real world to give their patients excellent control, but also flexibility in terms of their treatment."
