At the 2025 Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), held this week in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Steven Fleischman, MD, was officially inaugurated as the 76th president of the organization. In his inaugural address, Fleischman reflected on his 30-year journey in obstetrics and gynecology, extending gratitude to the mentors, colleagues, and family members who supported him along the way.

Fleischman used the occasion to speak directly to ACOG's newest fellows, offering a message of encouragement and challenge as they join the ranks of ACOG.

“As fellows of ACOG, you now join an organization that is committed to not only advancing scientific knowledge but also improving the quality of care we provide to our patients,” said Fleischman. “Continue to seek out opportunities for professional development, stay curious and be willing to adapt as new discoveries remain and challenges arise."

Emphasizing the critical role OB-GYNs play in the health care system, he urged the new fellows not to underestimate their impact. "You are our future. Do not hesitate to lead. We need all of you," he said. “There is no environment where your work is not the engine of revenue for the organizations for which you work."

Dr Fleischman, who succeeds Stella Dantas, MD, also stated: “Do not let anyone else tell you how to live your life, do your job, or minimize your value...you are the driving force behind all of women's health care."
