COVID-19 Update: Global Cases and Recoveries as of April 20, 2020

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed globally?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, April 20, 2020 at 9:38 AM, there have been:

• 2 422 525 confirmed cases
• 166 235 deaths
• 635 895 recoveries

The US continues to lead with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 760 245 total cases to date, followed by Spain with 200 210 cases and Italy with 178 972 cases.

The US now also leads in number of confirmed deaths (40 690), followed by Italy (23 660) and Spain (20 852). Germany leads in recoveries with 91 500 people who have recovered, followed by Spain with 80 587 recoveries and China with 77 745.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the US?

As previously stated, there are now 760 245 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US as well as 40 690 deaths and 71 011 recoveries.

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. New York: 248 431
2. New Jersey: 85 301
3. Massachusetts: 38 077
                                     4. Pennsylvania: 32 991
                                           5. California: 31 531

New York City, New York still has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 14 451 reported fatalities, followed by Nassau, New York with 1281 deaths and Wayne, Michigan with 1119.
