COVID-19 Update: Global Cases and Recoveries as of May 18, 2020

The latest COVID-19 data on confirmed cases, recoveries, and more from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed globally?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, May 18, 2020 at 9:32 AM, there have been:

• 4 744 216 confirmed cases
• 315 740 deaths
• 1 747 403 recoveries

The US continues to lead with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1 487 447 total cases to date, followed by Russia with 290 678 cases and the United Kingdom with 244 995 cases.

The US also leads in number of confirmed deaths (89 567), followed by the United Kingdom (34 716) and Italy (31 908). The US now also leads in recoveries with 272 265 people who have recovered, followed by Germany with 155 041 recoveries and Spain with 146 446.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the US?

As previously stated, there are now 1 487 447 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US as well as 89 567 deaths and 272 265 recoveries.

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. New York: 350 121
2. New Jersey: 146 504
3. Illinois 94 191
4. Massachusetts: 86 010
5. California: 80 166

New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 28 232 reported fatalities, followed by New Jersey with 10 363 deaths and Massachusetts with 5797.
