COVID-19 Update: US and Global Cases, Deaths, and Recoveries as of July 31, 2020

US confirmed cases of COVID-19 number nearly 4.5 million; global cases have surpassed 17 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, July 31, 2020 at 12:30 PM, EDT, there have been:

• 4 496 737 620 confirmed cases
• 152 047 deaths
• 1 414 155 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 493 140 2. Florida: 461 3793. Texas   428 2294. New York:  414 370 5. Georgia: 182 286

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 32 683 reported fatalities, followed by New Jersey with 15 809 deaths, and California with 9032.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 260 542 people who have recovered, followed by Massachusetts with 97 595 recoveries and New York with 72 973.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 7 633 840 people tested, followed by New York with 5 820 368 people tested, and Texas with 3 609 474 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 17 344 539 confirmed cases, 674 038 deaths, and 10 179 718 recoveries.
