COVID-19 Update: US and Global Cases, Deaths, and Recoveries as of September 24, 2020

US confirmed cases of COVID-19 number nearly 7 million; global recoveries have surpassed 22 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, September 24, 2020 at 10:23 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 6 937 145 confirmed cases
• 201 959 deaths
• 2 670 256 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 797 102
2. Texas: 742 913
3. Florida: 690 499
4. New York: 451 892
5. Georgia: 310 161

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 33 090 reported fatalities, followed by New Jersey with 16 082 deaths, and Texas with 15 372.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 618 054 people who have recovered, followed by North Carolina with 176 422 recoveries and Tennessee with 169 649.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 13 879 423 people tested, followed by New York with 10 135 692 people tested, and Texas with 5 740 674 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 31 937 244 confirmed cases, 977 624 deaths, and 22 013 874 recoveries.
