How widespread is the Delta variant (B.1.617.2) in the US?

According to early data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of July 9, 2021, the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant makes up >50% of COVID-19 cases.

The CDC estimates as of July 6, 2021, the 5 states with the highest unweighted proportion of new cases attributed to the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant are:

1. Missouri: 73.3%
2. Nevada: 39.7%
3. Colorado: 36.3%
4. California: 29.6%
5. New Jersey: 27.6%

How many people in the US have been vaccinated against COVID-19?

According to the CDC, as of today, July 12, 2021, at 2:28 PM, EDT:

• 55.5% of total US population has received at least 1 dose
• 48% of total US population is fully vaccinated

The 5 states with the highest percentage of population fully vaccinated are:

1. Vermont: 66.5%
2. Massachusetts: 62.7%
