A bottle of over-the-counter contact lens saline solution can be a handy emergency eye wash for patients' at-home use.

A bottle of over-the-counter contact lens saline solution can be a handy emergency eye wash for patients' at-home use. The solution is also good for rinsing smaller superficial wounds. However, caution patients about maintaining sterility and limiting shelf-life to prevent contamination.
