"Primary care clinicians are absolutely central to really every health outcome that we have in this country."

The statement was made by Heather Yun, MD, IDWeek2023 chair for the Infectious Disease Society of America, during a conversation with Patient Care® during the scientific sessions in Boston, October 12,-15. The topic, among others, was the role of primary care clinicians in the effort to rein in antimicrobial resistance in the US and also what she thinks may have been the COVID-19 pandemic's most important lesson for frontline clinicians.

Heather Yun, MD, is deputy commander for Medical Services at Brooke Army Medical Center (vice president for medical affairs), in Houston, TX, and professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, in Bethesda, MD.
