Our office has devised a system to reduce the number of expired drug samples that must be discarded. We store all drug samples according to their expiry dates, with 1 shelf for each of the upcoming 12 months and a 13th shelf for samples that expire after 1 year. At the end of each month, we discard all remaining samples on that month's shelf; each quarter, samples on the 13th shelf are reclassified.
