Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes: Experts Analyze the Role of Insulin Resistance

Video

"It is very important to understand the correlation between insulin resistance and diabetes and insulin resistance and obesity," said Shagun Bindlish, MD, medical director of One Medical in Dublin, California, in a recent interview with Patient Care Online.

Dr Bindlish, joined by Dr Peminda K. Cabandugama, director of Digital Obesity at the Cleveland Clinic, sat down with Patient Care® to discuss what they consider are the most important elements of the relationship between obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D), including the role of insulin resistance, understanding the connections between insulin resistance, T2D, and obesity, and why a change in lifestyle should be top of mind for clinicians when seeing patients with T2D and obesity. More of their conversation follows.
