Patients appreciate-and often expect-notification of lab results. I have developed form letters to notify patients of cholesterol, bone density, and diabetes test results.

Patients appreciate-and often expect-notification of lab results. I have developed form letters to notify patients of cholesterol, bone density, and diabetes test results. In addition to the lab values, the letters include my interpretation of the results and follow-up and treatment recommendations. These letters have improved patient satisfaction and decreased the number of phone calls made about routine test results.
