A Remedy for Angioedema That's Worth Its Salt

Antihistamines, corticosteroids, andepinephrine can take time to relieveangioedema of the uvula.To shrinkthe uvula rapidly, have the patientgargle with a hypertonic saltwater solution(1 tsp of salt per ounce of water)and repeat this treatment every 20 to30 minutes until the acute episodesubsides. Caution against swallowingthe solution.
