Abstain From Alcohol for Killing Spores
Caring for a patient with diarrhea that may be caused by Clostridium difficile.

When caring for a patient with diarrhea that may be caused by Clostridium difficile, make sure that you and everyone on your team wash their hands with soap and water rather than using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Remember that alcohol-based preparations do not kill the spores of C difficile!
