COVID-19 Update: Global Confirmed Cases as of April 2, 2020

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US is now over 200 000. Plus more COVID-19 data you should know about today.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed globally?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, April 2, 2020 at 8:50 AM, there have been:

  • 962 977 confirmed cases

  • 49 180 deaths

  • 202 935 recoveries

The US continues to lead with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 216 768 total cases to date, followed by Italy with 110 574 cases and Spain with 110 238 cases. 

Italy currently has the highest number of confirmed deaths (13 155), followed by Spain (10 003) and France (4032). China leads in recoveries with 76 571 people who have recovered, followed by Spain with 26 743 recoveries and Germany with 19 175.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the US?

As previously stated, there are now 216 768 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US as well as 5148 deaths and 8710 recoveries.

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. New York: 84 046
2. New Jersey: 22 255
3. California: 9907
                                      4. Michigan: 9315
                                   5. Florida: 7773

New York also has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with >1370 reported fatalities, followed by King, Washington with 164 deaths.
