US confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 16 million; global cases have reached 72 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, December 14, 2020 at 9:27 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 16 258 573 confirmed cases
• 299 193 deaths
• 6 298 082 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 1 587 210
2. Texas: 1 409 523
3. Florida: 1 125 931
4. Illinois: 848 904
5. New York: 775 160

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 35 557 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 24 400 deaths, and California with 21 046.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 1 176 377 people who have recovered, followed by Tennessee with 390 891 recoveries and Wisconsin with 386 655.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 27 195 587 people tested, followed by New York with 21 962 295 people tested, and Florida with 13 845 471 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 72 377 690 confirmed cases, 1 614 738 deaths, and 47 360 708 recoveries.
