US confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 17 million; global cases have reached 76 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, December 21, 2020 at 10:22 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 17 850 936 confirmed cases
• 317 686 deaths
• 6 298 082 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 1 886 623
2. Texas: 1 593 838
3. Florida: 1 201 566
4. Illinois: 900 370
5. New York: 848 042

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 36 431 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 25 828 deaths, and California with 22 677.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 1 269 014 people who have recovered, followed by Ohio with 447 442 recoveries and Tennessee with 434 977.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 29 465 170 people tested, followed by New York with 23 318 158 people tested, and Florida with 14 611 374 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 76 975 940 confirmed cases, 1 695 846 deaths, and 43 397 306 recoveries.
