US confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 15 million; global cases have reached 68 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, December 9, 2020 at 10:26 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 15 186 244 confirmed cases
• 286 461 deaths
• 5 786 915 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 1 422 351
2. Texas: 1 347 045
3. Florida: 1 073 770
4. Illinois: 804 174
5. New York: 722 464

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 35 118 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 23 372 deaths, and California with 20 275.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 1 050 416 people who have recovered, followed by Tennessee with 371 163 recoveries and Wisconsin with 356 752.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 25 789 775 people tested, followed by New York with 20 909 445 people tested, and Florida with 13 265 616 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?
