US confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 20 million; global cases have reached 85 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, January 4, 2021 at 11:24 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 20 649 941 confirmed cases
• 351 774 deaths

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 2 428 851
2. Texas: 1 810 537
3. Florida: 1 365 436
4. New York: 1 023 897
5. Illinois: 979 821

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 38 415 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 28 433 deaths, and California with 26 638.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 1 451 846 people who have recovered, followed by Ohio with 579 583 recoveries and Tennessee with 526 966.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 33 812 786 people tested, followed by New York with 25 849 104 people tested, and Florida with 16 020 601 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?
