According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, October 12, 2020 at 3:24 PM, EDT, there have been:

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 33 301 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 16 972 deaths, and California with 16 578.
