According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, October 5, 2020 at 1:23 PM, EDT, there have been:

• 209 881 deaths
• 2 911 699 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 33 205 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 16 390 deaths, and California with 16 151.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 680 083 people who have recovered, followed by North Carolina with 184 422 recoveries and Tennessee with 184 404.
