Global confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 36 million. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, October 8, 2020 at 10:23 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 7 555 437 confirmed cases
• 211 917 deaths
• 2 999 895 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 842 386
2. Texas: 803 733
3. Florida: 722 707
4. New York: 468 268
5. Georgia: 326 142

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 33 226 reported fatalities, followed by Texas with 16 664 deaths, and California with 16 365.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 692 123 people who have recovered, followed by North Carolina with 192 644 recoveries and Tennessee with 188 576.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 15 556 706 people tested, followed by New York with 11 501 629 people tested, and Texas with 6 664 440 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 36 238 849 confirmed cases, 1 057 102 deaths, and 25 277 578 recoveries.
