According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, March 17, 2021 at 12:25 PM, EDT, there have been:

• 29 556 707 confirmed cases
• 537 123 deaths

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 3 628 262
2. Texas: 2 738 135
3. Florida: 1 984 425
4. New York: 1 755 193
5. Illinois: 1 212 014

Deaths: California has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 56 796 reported fatalities, followed by New York with 49 110, and Texas with 46 659.
