ACOG 2025: The Junonia study was designed to understand gaps in care for women with PPD using surveys of their clinicians and care coordinators.
At the 2025 American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting, Laxmi Gannu, MS, senior manager, real world evidence, at Sage Therapeutics, described the aims of and methods used in the Junonia study, a prospective interventional cluster study that examined health care providers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding postpartum depression (PPD) screening and treatment as well as patients' experience of care for PPD.
The study evaluated the impact of an intervention that focused on coordination of PPD care compared with standard clinical practices, Gannu told Patient Care© during an interview at the meeting, held May 16-18, in Minneapolis. Researchers surveyed clinicians, patients, and also care coordinators at the 18 study sites to learn about elements that would facilitate coordination of PPD care and what the barriers to coordination might be. In the short video above, Gannu provides an overview of the study.
